Offbeat Songwriter Showcase... (February 03 2006)

ATTENTION ALL SONGWRITERS! Take note! The date – Thursday 16th February. The venue – The Stage Bar, Armagh.  The event – “Offbeat” songwriter showcase!!!

The event is being organised to allow singer/songwriters from the local area and further a field to showcase their material in a supportive, relaxed environment.

For those who have had little or no experience of performing their songs live -  that is, the kitchen, bedroom, or shower performers - this is a perfect opportunity to kick back and give it a go in front of someone other than the cat.  For the more seasoned performer, it’s a great way to just get out and sing – no pressure.  For everyone involved it’s an excellent environment to ‘road test’ songs, enjoy the buzz of performing and meet other creatives! And of course, for those who come along and listen, it is a refreshing and interesting way to spend an evening.

Armagh singer/songwriter, Nina Armstrong is co-ordinating the event and she hopes that those interested will not hesitate in taking part. She herself was a “kitchen performer” for many years before picking up a guitar and taking to the stage. Less than three years later she has released her debut EP “As Doubt Walks Away”, taken part in the singer/songwriter showcase in Auntie Annies as part of belFEST, performed live on radio and played support to the likes of Jenny Lindfors and more recently John Spillane at the esteemed Spirit Store Venue in Dundalk.  “Offbeat” will provide a superb platform for beginners and experienced performers alike.

It’s free to take part and free to come and listen.

It is hoped that this will be only the first “Offbeat” Songwriter Showcase with the possibility of further opportunities in the coming months.
